We had a great 2nd meeting!
Mario kicked things off with distributing the 2019 Quilter's Planner, such great tools! Then gave a run down of guild business, including a recap of the very well received lecture and Trunk Show for the Long Island Quilter's Society on October 15th. Kim Smith gave a great lecture about the roots and inspirations of Modern Quilting and then she and Mario displayed the beautiful quilts lent by our members. Check out our Instagram (@limqg) for more photos! After that we moved onto show and and share, which included a lovely quilt by new member Nellie, a baby quilt by Lorraine, an improv piece by Louise that was a chance to work on curves and Nancy's cozy Minky backed quilt. Then, we had 2 Member workshops, highlighting some of the hidden (or not so hidden!) talents of our members. Nancy shared her techniques and hints for fussy cutting, including tips for getting the most out of your fabric, including motifs that may have been cut into when fussy cutting something near by. Mario discussed his technique for getting all of your dimensional prints to match up when paper piecing complex patterns. I believe he will be posting more about that on his social media accounts, so keep an eye out, it's a great way of using the prints. Our next meeting is November 14th and new members are always welcome!
